24 variations of the Chupa Chups

2018, Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering

This project began with studying the concept of eating with hands. In India, this has a strong spiritual meaning behind it, and is a way to appreciate more the textures, smells and tastes of food. On the other hand, in Europe, traditions like these are not very common. In fact, eating with our hands is generally seen as rude. Candy is an exception to this. However, we have grown so used to their shape, that we don’t question for a second how they must be eaten. And so the fun of eating candy is being lost.

Experimenting with traditional candy and sweets, this project consisted of playing around with the different possible ways of Chupa Chups. With this the aim id to turn eating candy into a fun game, and make people question traditions.
